What Would Your Ideal Relationship with Jesus Look Like?

Part 3 of “Experiencing the Fullness of God”

Who is Jesus to You?

If someone asked you, “Who is Jesus to you?”—how would you answer?

Many of us would say, “He’s my Savior.” And that’s absolutely true.

But is He more than that in your daily life?

For some, Jesus is someone they believe in but don’t really walk with.
For others, He is a historical figure, someone they admire but don’t feel personally connected to.
And for some, Jesus is a close friend, someone they turn to in both joy and sorrow.

But no matter where you are, here’s the truth:

💡 Jesus didn’t just come to save you—He came to walk with you, every day, in every moment.

The question is, are you walking with Him?

Jesus as Savior: The One Who Rescues Us

The most incredible truth of our faith is that Jesus died and rose again so that we could be free from sin and death. But many of us stop there. We receive salvation, but we never experience Jesus beyond that moment.

📖 “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

Jesus saved us because He loves us, not because He had to. He wanted to restore what was lost—our relationship with the Father, our purpose, and our identity as God’s children.

But here’s where many of us struggle:

Even though we know we’re saved, we don’t always live in that freedom.

We still carry shame from our past.
We still feel like we have to earn God’s approval.
We still wonder if we are truly forgiven, truly loved, truly His.

But Jesus didn’t just die to forgive our sins—He died to bring us into a life of joy, peace, and intimacy with Him.

Salvation isn’t just about eternity—it’s about life right now (John 10:10).

💭 Reflection: Do you live in the freedom of salvation, or do you still feel like you have to prove yourself to Jesus?

Jesus as Friend: The One Who Walks With Us

Have you ever thought of Jesus as your friend?

Not just a distant God who hears your prayers, but someone who walks with you, listens to you, and cares about the small details of your life?

📖 “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends.” – John 15:15

Jesus calls us friends.

Think about what that means. A friend is someone who sticks with you, who knows your heart, who wants to be near you.

But for many of us, Jesus still feels distant. We know we can pray to Him, but do we actually talk to Him like a friend?

We don’t hesitate to text or call our best friends when something happens in our day. But do we turn to Jesus the same way?

We don’t worry that our closest friends will reject us when we’re struggling. But do we feel that same safety with Jesus?

Jesus is the friend who is always near, always listening, always for you (Matthew 28:20 – “I am with you always”). He is not just a God to be worshiped—He is a friend to be known.

💭 Reflection: Do you talk to Jesus like a friend, or do you only turn to Him in moments of crisis?

Jesus as Teacher: The One Who Shows Us How to Live

Jesus didn’t just come to save us—He came to show us a new way of living.

📖 “Whoever hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” – Matthew 7:24

Jesus isn’t just someone to believe in—He is someone to follow.

Many Christians know about Jesus, but few truly live like Him.

We admire His teachings but struggle to put them into practice.
We quote His words but hesitate to let them change us.
We love the idea of grace but find it hard to extend it to others.

But if Jesus is truly our Teacher, we don’t just listen—we follow.

His words teach us how to love deeply, forgive quickly, and trust fully. He shows us how to walk in faith, live in humility, and surrender to the Father.

To follow Jesus isn’t just to know what He said—it’s to live how He lived.

💭 Reflection: Is Jesus truly your Teacher, or do you only turn to Him when you need something?

How Can We Grow Closer to Jesus?

If we want to experience a real, daily relationship with Jesus, we need to:

Talk to Him Daily. Instead of treating prayer like a checklist, make it a conversation. Jesus is already listening—He’s just waiting for you to speak.

Learn From Him. Read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) not just for information, but as personal lessons from Jesus Himself.

Follow His Example. Jesus calls us to love, serve, and forgive like He does. Every day, ask yourself: “How can I live like Jesus today?”

Trust His Leadership. Jesus is not just a comforting friend—He is Lord. Following Him means submitting every part of our life to His guidance.

Jesus doesn’t want a part of your heart—He wants your whole life.

A Prayer to Deepen Your Relationship with Jesus

🛐 “Jesus, I don’t want to just believe in You—I want to walk with You. Teach me how to follow You, how to talk to You, and how to trust You in every part of my life. Help me see You as my Savior, my Friend, and my Teacher. I want to live in Your freedom, walk in Your presence, and follow You with my whole heart. Amen.”

Final Thoughts

Jesus doesn’t just want you to know about Him—He wants you to know Him personally.

He is your Savior, your closest Friend, and your greatest Teacher.

So what would your ideal relationship with Jesus look like?
Maybe the real question is… Are you ready to walk closer with Him?
