But I’m not asking you to be certain before I speak again. I called you more than once before you turned around. I called Samuel by name three times before he understood it was Me he was hearing, and I never once stopped calling while he figured it out.

You are not behind. You are not missing some skill everyone else already has. Recognizing My voice grows the same way any closeness grows — slowly, through showing up again and again, not through getting it perfect the first time.
