If someone asked you, “Do you love God?” most of us would instinctively say yes. But have you ever paused to wonder what that love truly looks like? Is it just a feeling, a duty, or something deeper?
Loving God is not about perfection or following a checklist of rules—it’s about relationship. God invites us into a life of intimacy with Him, where love isn’t an obligation but a response to His overwhelming love for us.
Desiring Time with Him: Love inspires connection. Just as we long to spend time with those we care about, loving God creates a hunger to be in His presence—through prayer, worship, and reading His Word. “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God” (Psalm 42:1).
Trusting in His Character: Love and trust go hand in hand. When we love God, we learn to trust His goodness, even when life feels uncertain. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).
Obeying Out of Love, Not Obligation: Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15). This isn’t about rigid rules—it’s about aligning our lives with His will because we trust and love Him.
Expressing Gratitude and Praise: A heart full of love overflows with thanksgiving. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1).
When Love Feels Distant
Let’s be honest: there are times when loving God doesn’t feel easy. Maybe life’s challenges have left you feeling distant, or you’re unsure how to deepen your connection.
The good news is that love isn’t just a feeling—it’s a choice. Choosing to love God means turning your heart toward Him, even when it feels hard.
A Journey of Love
Loving God is not a one-time declaration; it’s a journey of growing closer to Him each day. It’s about seeking Him, trusting Him, and letting His love transform your heart.
